
The Majestics formed in high school in the sixties, and got pretty famous locally, before real life broke in. Fast forward 40 years, and the band decide to reform and have some (more) fun.
The line up is Kit, Bass, Guitar, Keys, 3 Horns and 5 vox, and they do mainly R&B.
This was an interesting job - record an outdoor show in New Freedom, PA, and sync up the recorded tracks with video from a stationary camera at the event.
We took the opportunity to test out the rig we were building for live recording, consisting of a Mackie Onyx 1640 board with firewire card and a laptop.The Mackie excelled, running PA L&R, 4 stage monitor mixes, and 2 FX sends, plus recorded 16 channels via the laptop into an external hard drive.
The recording was mixed and mastered on Sonar 6, using various plugs on each track and on the overall mix.
